Charmaine67 days agoThis place is a hidden gem and will be my opticians going forward after an initial enquiry for just sunglasses!!! To give context to my review, I reached out to them via WhatsApp on 19 July 2026 regarding a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses. I received a response the same day and whilst they didn’t have the pair I wanted in stock, I arranged to go on 25 July 2026 to have a look at the selection they had as I was impressed with the communication and offer to order the ones I wanted if they didn’t have an alternate design I liked. I was able to pop in on 22 July 2026 and met the author of the messages: Holly. What an absolute star! She was so accommodating, knowledgeable, and told me she’d ordered the ones I’d enquired about but wanted to surprise me on 25 July! This level of this exceptional customer service is not what you get in mainstream opticians! Whilst they had a great selection on offer in store, my heart was set on the Pehu design and so I said I’d wait until 25 July, but fortunately for me, they arrived on 24 July and I was able to collect and get them fitted the same day! Within 5 days of a general enquiry via WhatsApp, I now had the exact sunglasses I initially enquired about, with more knowledge about the brand, and other services offered by Brittain Opticians. Throughout it all, Holly went above and beyond to provide exceptional service, and this will now be my go to for all future optician appointments and sunglasses purchases. In fact, my partner is sending me back to get him cleaning fluid for his Maui Jim’s! You will not be disappointed if you go here!Posted on Google

Never rushes the appointment at all. Alongside the other staff that work there , all very nice, kind , friendly and always happy to help. I’ve always needed my glasses adjusted and they were always very helpful to do this for me . I highly recommend this opticians as it provides excellent quality care for patients .Posted on Google
martin price122 days agoWhat a refreshing change to have some real customer service after going to other outlets who don’t listen and want you in and out as quickly as possible. I had a very comprehensive eye examination with Matt who really took the time to explain everything clearly to make sure I got what I needed. I must say all the staff there are incredibly friendly and never rush you into a decision, this is a very professional team who really look after you. Matt was so natural and calm when running through prescriptions and explaining what he was doing and what I needed. I had purchased a pair of second hand glasses online and needed them adjusting Holly was more than happy to help me with this and did it right there and then as I walked in. I would recommend this shop the staff are lovely and the interior is beautiful. I couldn't help look at there lovely range of glasses as well I may have to pop back for an eye test. I was greeted with a lovely member of staff, Holly, who was so welcoming and happy to help me. Holly did a fantastic job and wouldn't accept a payment from me. Paul Robertshaw931 days agoHaving been very impressed with a couple of pairs of Izipizi reading glasses I bought from Brittain’s I also ordered some Maui Jim sunglasses with a bifocal strip for reading. As well as the obvious use I was also hoping that these glasses would make it easier to see my bike computer. Tried them out on Sunday and expectations exceeded, excellent. I called a few in the area who were just plain rude and dismissive when I asked for an urgent appointment. In contrast, British opticians were super friendly, and immediately accommodated me for a same day appointment. On arriving there I met the friendly Amanda and was seen by Mat, who did a thorough check up on my eyes. The level of service all round has been top notch. Rachel Johnson1040 days agoHaving recently changed jobs I needed to move from just reading glasses to something I would wear all day. Matt did a thorough eye exam and recommended Smartzoom lenses. I chose a pair of lovely frames and only had to wait a week for them to arrive. Got an appointment the next day and the lovely optician Amanda fitted the frames, checked the lenses and also gave me lessons in how to use the glasses, making sure I could use them properly before leaving. They work a treat and have been really easy to use. Was looked after throughout and the aftercare has been great too, checking they are still ok a week or so after having them. I have visited chains before and i felt like they depend too much on machines for a quicker service which in turn, i feel, has a detrimental effect on the outcome of tests. So i been suffering from refractive error seeing unstable double vision. Went too eye hospital 4 times in one year, They said its just dry eyes nothing to worry about. As time went on my anxiety was kicking in more because i was seeing double from wrong glasses given by specsavers. I went too 3 different opticians. Britian Optician found the problem very quick proffesional also very kind too me as i never had enough money to buy the glasses frame thats suites my face, They let me pay monthly installments which i would like too thank them once again. Matt and the team always make my visit as comfortable as can be for my known health conditions, which helps minimize pre-appointment anxiety. I always feel well guided if that be for my prescription glasses, prescription sunglasses or contact lenses. There is always a great choice of stylish options available and payment plans can be put in place if you choose a more expensive option for yourself. They have an amazing range of frames to choose from and I've bought a few pairs from them over the years. They always give you an honest and experienced opinion whether it's the style of the frame or the lens quality or in some cases the thickness of your lens. Importantly though, there's never a pressure to buy that you can sometimes experience when you walk into a chain. I'm a big supporter of local businesses as the experience is usually more personal and Brittain Opticians has this in bag loads.Posted on Google

They really took their time to listen to me, explain what was happening in the test and how that would help my prescription, and help me choose frames. They are experts at what they do and the service is friendly and personalised. Having used a number of other high street chains we have recognised the importance of quality and consistency, and having a friendly face to support you and so would chose Brittain Opticians over competitor chains anytime. Emma Ashton3485 days agoI highly recommend Brittain’s. I found them after a long search for a new optician – it’s really hard to find a good independent – and it was definitely worth it. The eye care is excellent and everyone is so friendly and knowledgeable. The practice is light, bright and filled with a wide range of great frames. I’ve always loathed choosing and wearing new glasses and this was the first time I genuinely enjoyed the process - I now love wearing my new specs. The same goes for my contact lenses. I’ve recently had to make the transition to a multi-focal prescription, which was quite an adjustment for me but Brittain’s were patient and helpful every step of the way. 10/10.Posted on Google
