Meet Your Harborne Optometrist

Brittain Opticians is led by Matt Rose, BSc (Hons) MCOptom, who has owned and run the practice since 2008. Matt is registered with the General Optical Council and the College of Optometrists, has worked in clinics across the UK and New Zealand, and teaches optometry at Aston University.

He tests eyes in clinic himself most days the practice is open, alongside our experienced team. That means you see the same optometrist year after year, your retinal images are compared by the clinician who took them, and the latest clinical thinking feeds straight into your appointment.

The staff are helpful, friendly and all consistent.  They are experts at what they do and the service is friendly and personalised.  Having used a number of other high street chains we have recognised the importance of quality and consistency, and having a friendly face to support you and so would chose Brittain Opticians over competitor chains anytime.  The latest technology in lenses means I have a pair that suit 3 different needs in one - very efficient and easy :)

From Matt the chap who tested my eyes to Claire, Amanda and the rest of the team in the store.
The're so, so welcoming and helpful.
They have an amazing range of frames to choose from and I've bought a few pairs from them over the years.
They always give you an honest and experienced opinion whether it's the style of the frame or the lens quality or in some cases the thickness of your lens.
Importantly though, there's never a pressure to buy that you can sometimes experience when you walk into a chain.
I'm a big supporter of local businesses as the  experience is usually more personal and Brittain Opticians has this in bag loads.

I had purchased a pair of second hand glasses online and needed them adjusting Holly was more than happy to help me with this and did it right there and then as I walked in. I would recommend this shop the staff are lovely and the interior is beautiful. I couldn't help look at there lovely range of glasses as well I may have to pop back for an eye test.

Matt did a thorough eye exam and recommended Smartzoom lenses. I chose a pair of lovely frames and only had to wait a week for them to arrive.
Got an appointment the next day and the lovely optician Amanda fitted the frames, checked the lenses and also gave me lessons in how to use the glasses, making sure I could use them properly before leaving. They work a treat and have been really easy to use.
Was looked after throughout and the aftercare has been great too, checking they are still ok a week or so after having them.
